I think anything with the Google brand name in it is doomed to failure as as Facebook killer. Who wants to send out friends requests to “Google Me” or whatever – only someone who wants to come across as a Google-loving geek. Google needs to massively improve its street cred if it’s to take on FB and I don’t ever see it managing that.

Hi Chris

I would agree with you entirely. There is no way that GoogleMe will be the “old” Orkut, or come to that a revamped orkut.

Google are Much smarter than that. They may have made a couple of failed attempts at social systems but they have reacated quickly when things have gone wrong in the past and “waved” bye bye to avoid “waving” flags they cant lower gracefully (excuse the pun).

My Money is going in the same Pot as Chris’s

I love anything Google and the automatic contact update makes me love them more! I never formed a habit of always adding contacts especially those days when I used Yahoo alot but when I started using Gmail one thing I was quick to notice was Google did that for me easily. Can someone find google for me let me say thankyou! LOL!!!

Chris, this is really great. And Hi to my good friend Alex, it is great to see you here commenting, too. Alex and Chris are two of the top sharing people on the internet in my opinion.

Really Joe, aren’t you being a little over the top?

I mean it’s not like Google charges you for hosting as many Gigs of video as you want. Or charges you for delivering it thru the browser no matter how much traffic you need it to handle. Or charges you for ranking it quite highly in Google rankings or YouTube rankings. They will even share what they make from AdSense advertising with you.

So I think greedy is a little much. Logins are logins, what difference does it make?

This is absolute bullshit. I shouldn’t be forced to create a Google account just to access my YouTube account. It should remain as an option; not an ultimatum. This reminds me of why I hate Google so damn much. They’re arrogant, greedy pricks.
